The European transport sector remains heavily reliant on fossil liquid fuels and has struggled to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. While battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are expected to play the leading role in decarbonising road transport, internal combustion engine vehicles will remain a significant part of Europe's fleet in the coming decade, particularly in legacy fleets and harder-to-abate segments.

At the same time, renewable fuels, including advanced biofuels and synthetic fuels, are increasingly seen as part of the solution for reducing transport emissions and strengthening Europe's energy security. While EU policies, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandates, have stimulated investment in renewable fuel production, questions remain about the long-term market signals needed to support further investment and scale-up.

As discussions begin on the EU's Post-2030 Renewable Energy Framework, policymakers and industry face key decisions on the future role of renewable fuels alongside electrification, and on how to secure the renewable electricity, feedstocks and industrial capacity required to meet future demand.

Join this Euractiv In-Person Conference to discuss how Europe can achieve its transport decarbonisation ambitions while strengthening competitiveness, energy security and investment across the mobility and renewable fuels value chains.

Questions to be addressed include:

- How can Europe achieve a 90% reduction in transport-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2040?
- What role can renewable fuels (bio and synthetic) play alongside electrification in decarbonising road, aviation and other hard-to-abate transport sectors?
- What is needed to secure sufficient renewable electricity and sustainable feedstocks for future fuel production?
- What should the EU's Post-2030 Renewable Energy Framework deliver to provide long-term investment certainty?
- How will the "Made in EU" industrial policy momentum boost investments in the renewable fuel production value chain, and secure the continuation of automotive investments in ICE technology?
