Media Partnership - Energy Day 2024: On the eve of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU

The Polish Electricity Association (PKEE), a representative of the electricity sector which is gathering the largest Polish energy producers and distributors of the energy, invites you to the next edition of PKEE Energy Day. The event will take place on December 9, 2024 in Brussels, at the Solvay Library, right next to the European Parliament. The conference, organized in cooperation with Euractiv, will gather approximately 150-200 people.

The effective implementation of the energy transformation, necessary reforms and investment implementation largely determines whether the European Union will achieve the development goals - sustainable competitiveness, economic security, open strategic autonomy and fair competition - indicated in Mario Draghi's Report "The future of European competitiveness".

Despite difficulties in execution of the decarbonization of the energy sector, Poland has been actively participating in the implementation of the necessary reforms. At the same time, Poland is an active inspirer of important initiatives, on both regional and the European Union level. So far, these ideas include the creation of the Energy Union, reducing dependence on Russia through joint negotiations and gas purchases by European Union countries. Moreover, thanks to Poland's efforts, energy security has been given priority through, among others, construction of interconnectors in Central and Eastern Europe. Polish activities related to the establishment of the Modernization Fund, the Just Transition Fund, and finally the initiative to support Ukraine are also important and worthy of mention.

Additionally, since the beginning of its membership in the European Union, Poland has been among the leading countries that use EU funds most efficiently on energy infrastructure, developing renewable energy sources, strengthening the security of energy supplies and developing industry and competitiveness. At the same time, Poland continues to be the European leader in economic growth.

The aim of the debates organized by PKEE as part of the Energy Day 2024 is to indicate how the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2025 should set the tone for the main issues regarding the energy transition towards climate neutrality in the newly started term of the EU institutions. Among these issues, PKEE sees, among others: financing the transformation and introducing reforms in a coordinated way that allows for strengthening the competitiveness of the European economy, while ensuring safe supplies at affordable prices of energy for consumers.

The event is organized under the Honorary Patronages of the Minister of Climate and Environment of the Republic of Poland as well as of the Minister of State Assets of the Republic of Poland and Minister of Industry of the Republic of Poland.

Please note that this event is in-person only and only participants who received a confirmation message will be admitted to the venue.
