#EAAGRIFOOD TWITTER CHAT | CAP AFTER 2028 - GAZING INTO THE CRYSTAL BALL

Join EURACTIV and our Agrifood journalists on Thursday 20 April for a Twitter Chat on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2028.

Our Twitter account @eaAgrifood will share the following questions on Twitter and invite you to share responses using #eaAgrifood:

Q1. EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski has previously said that the next CAP budget must be bigger to face future crises. Should this budget be increased, in your opinion?
Q2. Should the next CAP reform move away from direct payments and towards remuneration for providing different services?
Q3. How will the potential enlargement to EU accession candidates such as Ukraine and Moldova shape the next CAP reform?
Q4. As environmental and agricultural issues increasingly overlap, is the current structure of the Commission’s service DG AGRI adequate to tackle the negotiations of the next CAP reform, or should the EU executive look to create a DG Food?
Q5. To cope with the widening scope of the CAP budget, should member states have more freedom in the future to give their own money, for instance in the form of state aid?

A Twitter Chat is a discussion between Twitter users that get online at a pre-arranged date and time to discuss a specific topic using a designated #hashtag (for this chat it’s #eaAgrifood). The hashtag links the questions and answers in a virtual conversation.

As the host of the Twitter Chat, @eaAgrifood will post questions identified as Q1, Q2 and so on, to prompt answers from participants, which are identified as A1, A2 and so on. We will moderate the answers and ask follow up questions to participants. Please be sure to use the #eaAgrifood when answering the questions.

The Twitter Chat will last about an hour. The best way to see the entire conversation is to search for the hashtag #eaAgrifood on twitter and switch to the "latest tweets" tab.

Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Commission. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
