System flexibility as the key to a decarbonised and resilient European power system
05-03-2018
EU-SysFlex launch event
Hosted by MEP Seán Kelly and moderated by EURACTIV
In a decentralizing energy system where the proportion of renewable energy penetration increases, enabling greater system flexibility of the EU energy market is crucial.
Initiated in November 2017, the EU SysFlex project aims to create a long-term roadmap for the large-scale integration of renewable energy on electricity grids as well as providing practical assistance to power system operators on a pan-European scale. The project consortium of 34 organisations from 15 countries across Europe and the full energy value chain makes it one of the largest projects of its type.
Join Irish Energy Minister Denis Naughten, Seán Kelly, MEP and senior representatives from DG Energy, EDF and EirGrid for a discussion on the key challenges that the EU-SysFlex project seeks to address.
The event will provide a platform for EU energy stakeholders to discuss with key policy-makers the applicability of this solution on a pan-European scale.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 773505
