Transport remains the only EU sector where emissions continue to grow, so how are manufacturers and legislators going to tackle this problem? At the Green Mobility Forum in Brussels, stakeholders will come together to discuss how Europe should cut carbon dioxide and fully embrace the EU’s clean mobility package.

Session 1: Reducing CO2 emissions from trucks: can we do it?

The EU currently has no limits on the CO2 emissions produced by trucks. But under the Commission’s first ever proposal for CO2 standards, new large trucks in the European Union would have to emit 15% less CO2 by 2025 and 30% less by 2030, compared to 2019. How can green mobility goals be aligned with the complexity of the truck market and heavy duty vehicles?

The automotive sector is now more than ever facing major transformations as the world moves towards a modern low-carbon economy. The European Commission proposed in November 2017 a legislative package aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in road transport and encouraging the uptake of electric cars. What are the next steps in the implementation of the package? What is the position of Member States in talks with the EU Institutions?
